Ransomware encrypts all the files in your computer, which can only be decrypted by the sender. They are usually decrypted after the sender is paid the ‘ransom’ amount. The UK IT support group, TSG found an astonishing 3,500% increase in Ransom attacks. Ransomwares can be transmitted through links and attachments in emails, or through malicious downloads/websites. Around 54% of businesses in the UK have been subject to Ransomware attacks. The irony is that one third of the businesses who paid the ransom didn’t get access to their files back. TSG advises other victims not to fall prey to the cybercriminal’s demands.
