The team of developers behind the amazing Plex Media Player, that enables you to stream your films and media collection both across your local network and further afield if desired, enabling you to watch your home movie collection on your mobile devices whilst away from home. Has announced the launch of the new Plex for Kodi plugin that lets you access the Plex experience from within the Kodi media application. Which was used to be called XBMC before it was changed to Kodi.
The new plugin includes most of the features you’d come to expect from Plex, which means it’ll play back nearly any video or music format and cleverly categorize your media library. It just simply lets you run the two media centers simultaneously without losing any of your customizations. It is currently only available to Plex Pass subscribers (it’ll be released publicly soon) and it doesn’t yet work with Plex Companion remote control, but it does sport a new user interface that Plex says helps to ‘showcase some of our new thinking.’
Those who’ve been using the application for a long time should know that the update also adds the ability to use it on a desktop or laptop with a keyboard and mouse.
To please free users, Plex is making its Media Player app, that launched about a year ago, available to all. It is also integrated its ‘powerful’ web app inside the Media Player, enabling you to switch between an easy-to-use desktop window and dedicated full-screen TV UI with the click of a button.
