The most common problem that I heard from many peoples and even I feel it too, that is the Eye strain from staring at a computer too long. I stare at a computer for entirely too many hours a day and I feel eye strain.
Eye strain from staring at a computer is so common in nowadays and it has its own name – the computer vision syndrome. And it is widespread, though estimates of its prevalence vary and the symptoms will probably sound familiar. The symptoms included blurry vision, headaches, dry eyes, watery eyes, and tired eyes.
For most of the people included me these symptoms are temporary, and if you stop using a computer for a while, they will go away. These symptoms can occur if people looking at a computer for two hours and more than two hours.
Computers can impact bad effect on our eyes, they are harder on the eyes than printed pages in part because we blink less. Our blink rate drops by a third when we are reading on screen or writing anything and playing games, leaving our eyes dry, according to the University of Lowa. The American Optometric Association also gives further more reason of eye fatigue, they said that the contrast between characters is not as strong as on a screen as in a book, and letters are less precisely rendered. All of these things make the eyes work harder, leaving them tired and we feel eye strain.
Staring at the screen from ales than ideal angle only exacerbates the discomfort. To prevent your eyes from tiredness, so you should be looking down at your screen – at a 15 to 20 degree angle – and it should be placed about 20 to 28 inches from your eyes.
It’s better to act upon precautions because that are beneficial for us and our eyes. Every 20 minutes you are on the computer, take 20 seconds to stare at something 20 feet away – optometrists call this the 20-20-20 rules. After two hours of continuous computer usage, you should have to take 15 minutes away from the rest to rest your eyes.
But if you are having trouble after a long day of staring at the computer, it might be worth saying hello to your eye doctor and consult with him. The good news is that your eyes is are probably going to be fine in the long run. Just try to be kind your eyes and should care for your eyes.
