Grand Theft Auto V has been out for a quite a while now. It first released in September 2013 for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. An Xbox One and PlayStation 4 release followed just over a year later, in November 2014, but the PC version originally intended to come out at the same time was delayed. After additional delays since then, the PC version of GTA V is finally on its way. It should be out on April 14, 2015.

GTA V coming to the PC is exciting for many reasons, not least of which is the opportunity for it to reach a new audience. While many people interested in it have already played it on another system and just want to upgrade, some Grand Theft Auto fans only enjoy gaming on their PCs and have been holding out. That said, there are a lot of fans who intend to make this their second or even third purchase of GTA V, and consider it to be the game’s definitive version.

So, if you’ve already played it on a console, why should you consider the PC version?

For starters, it contains all the benefits of the Xbox One and PS4 remastered version of the game, while also allowing for even better graphics. Los Santos is going to look better than ever before. If visuals aren’t important enough to you to justify buying or re-buying it, though, there are still other benefits—most notably, mods. No one knows yet if there will be any mods for GTA Online, but PC mods are almost a guarantee.

All versions of GTA V contain a hearty amount of cheat codes that let players mess around and vary up the gameplay, but the PC version has the added benefit of fan-made mods. Sure, mods are possible on consoles, but they aren’t nearly as easy to make or use. Thousands of PC mods are available for past GTA games, and fans have already begun work on GTA V mods. This type of content tends to vary greatly, from minor cosmetic changes to large-scale gameplay changes that all but create a new game. It’s an excellent way for fans to experiment with their creativity and provide new replayability.

Whether you’re experiencing the single-player campaign for the first time, upgrading for the improved details and enhanced graphics, enjoying the wealth of GTA 5 PC cheats, or waiting for your favorite mods, the PC version of GTA V will have a lot to offer. Are you planning to pick it up when it releases on April 14?
