Logitech has long offered well-reviewed USB webcams, and now, it is announcing what could be the best such camera ever. The new BRIO 4K Pro Webcam is capable of recording or streaming 4K content. While the UHD support alone makes it intriguing, it has other notable features like HDR, Windows Hello support and USB-C connectivity. It even comes out with a privacy shade in the box. If you want to mount it on a professional tripod, there’s threading for that too.

The Logitech 4K Pro Webcam comes with a 13-megapixel sensor that can stream, and you guessed it, a 4K image, although you will be hard-pressed to find applications that support live 4K streaming for conferencing. Fortunately, this webcam comes with a heap of features beyond just a 4K resolution that make it interesting. For starters, aboard is a second infrared LED and sensor, which paired with primary sensor and some software trickery makes the webcam Windows Hello certified, meaning that you can use it for facial recognition as a login securely – the infrared sensor ensures that ‘hackers’ won’t be able to login to your system by holding your family portraits in front of it. Allegedly, Microsoft even claims the system is so accurate that identical twins won’t be able to log into each other’s systems.

Logitech says its internal motto for the Brio was to create the ‘Tesla of webcams,’ and the amount of the features certainly backs that up. With YouTube now supporting the 4K streaming and HDR, the Logitech Brio is one of the first webcams to take advantage of what’s going to become common with third-party cameras soon. Logitech’s new Brio 4K Pro Webcam is now available on Best Buy, Amazon, and Logitech’s own store for $199.99, or in Europe for 239 euros.
