The Sigma has increased this flagship of Art-series of lens by announcing a Sigma 24-70mm F/2.8 DG OS HSM Art Lens with fast, constant aperture zoom workhouse upgraded to the exacting standards of the high performance Sigma Art-series.
The lens is the fourth generation model in a popular zoom lens category and features a new optical stabilization system along with a new hypersonic autofocus motor HSM, which offers 1.3 times the torque than the previous one.
The lens is designed as a workhouse, it has dust and splash proof resistant and a lens barrel, which contains a large amount of metal but with external moving parts made from thermally stable composite TSC that is resistant to thermal expansion and contraction.
In terms of specs, the lens contains 19 elements in 14 groups and has three types of low-dispersion glass that offers superior performance: ELD (Extraordinary Low Dispersion), SLD (Special Low Dispersion) and FLD (“F” Low Dispersion). The lens features a brand new OS and highly efficient and fast AF system. It embodies all the technical qualities and finesse that define the high performance Sigma Global Vision Art series. The Aspherical element of lens uses Sigma’s groundbreaking thicker center glass design and highly precise polishing process and delivers the stunning images and bokeh effect.
The newly revamped Sigma 24-70mm F/2.8 DG OS HSM Art Lens comes with the support of Canon, Nikon and Sigma mounts and works with Sigma’s MC-11 Sony E-mount convertor. Measuring the lens at 88 × 107, 6 mm but it weighs has not been disclosed and not revealed. The pricing and availability for the Sigma 24-70mm F/2.8 DG OS HSM Art Lens will be announced later, the company has not announced yet.
