In 1919, one of their planes hit 32,000 feet and made headlines around the world. Without the assistance of this manufacturer, the war would have remained on the ground throughout. There were obviously lots of other companies competing for contracts, but BMW were awarded all the big deals.

The first car ever produced by BMW came about because German companies were banned from producing military equipment under the Treaty of Versailles. You remember that cool and futuristic car from the hit film “Back to the Future?” Well, most people don’t know this, but the BMW M1 was designed by the same man. Thankfully, it is completely safe to travel over 88 mph in an M1. The chances of you being sent back to the 1950s are pretty slim, and you don’t have to worry about breaking your flux capacitor.
