The Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) has awarded all variants of the new-generation Mitsubishi Triton a maximum five-star safety rating in advance of its Australian debut this month.
Mitsubishi’s 2016 Triton benefits from the standard fitment of a comprehensive range of active and passive safety features, which includes dual front SRS, side and curtain airbags and a driver’s knee airbag.
Advanced seat belt reminders are fitted to all seats across its Single, Club and Double Cab model range, along with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and Emergency Brake Assist (EBA).
A reverse camera will be available as a standard feature on some variants and a genuine accessory on remaining models.
Mitsubishi Motors Australia CEO Mutsuhiro Oshikiri said the new Triton was designed to meet the highest safety standards.
“Triton has built a long-standing reputation as an honest, reliable and durable light commercial vehicle in Australia, and the fifth-generation Triton takes this to a new level,” he said.
“The new Triton has been developed with passenger car-like attributes of comfort, quietness and advanced safety, while retaining Triton’s traditional durability and toughness.
“We’re pleased to confirm that all models in the 2016 Triton range have been recognised with a maximum five-star ANCAP safety rating well ahead of their arrival in Mitsubishi showrooms.”
Full specification and model line-up details will be announced at the 2016 Mitsubishi Triton launch in late April.
